The pappa al pomodoro, created to recover stale bread using ingredients that were once poor and easy to find, is the heart of Tuscan cuisine: simple, rustic and delicious.
Perfect when you want a hot and comforting dish!
Ingredients (4 people)
- 400 g ripe or peeled tomatoes
- 300 g stale Tuscan bread
- 1 l of vegetable broth
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 5 tablespoons Torre Rossa organic extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh basil, salt and pepper
Preparation
1. Fry the garlic in oil.
2. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
3. Add the bread and pour the hot broth little by little.
4. Stir and cook for 30 minutes until it becomes creamy.
5. Sell with fresh basil and a drizzle of oil.
